Nice to meet you

Hi, my name is Jered.  I am a doctoral student at BYU and will be your instructor this semester.  I look forward to getting to know you as we learn about how to improve instruction.  I am from Fillmore, a small town in central Utah.   I served my mission in Portugal.  If you ever get a chance to go I recommend it.  I went back to Portugal a few years ago and I hope to return when they dedicate the new temple.

After my mission I graduated from BYU-Idaho with a degree in Social Studies Education.  I was lucky enough to get a job in Idaho Falls at Clair E. Gale Junior High School teaching 9th grade western civilizations.  Like most teachers I got a well rounded teaching experience that included coaching 9th grade basketball, helping with fund raisers, dance chaperoning, teaching summer school, and supervising a Saturday school program.

I have been married for three years.  Pam and I meet in a small singles branch while I was teaching in Idaho Falls.  When we met I was in the process of trying to get over my fear of heights so some of our fist dates included skydiving, climbing, repelling, and hiking next to cliffs.   Let's just say that she thought that I was more adventurous than I really am.  We got married in 2008 and have been living the good life ever since.

On February 17th we had a little girl!  Just last week she started walking.
